Foundation skills are the set of basic behaviours that serve as the building blocks for all owner or family dog pairs. These skills form the fundamentals of learning more advanced behaviours like waiting calmly at a café while you’re having lunch to fetching a beer from the fridge, your creativity is the limit really. What you will be learning • How dogs communicate the importance of their body language • To effectively communicating with your dog and the mechanics of rewarding them. • Engagement (focus on me) • Name Recognition • Sit, down, stay, wait • Getting your dog comfortable with being touched and examined • Target training (touch): which is a crucial skill needed for more advanced behaviours • Recall: Coming when called • Leash Manners: teaching your dog to walk nicely on a lead • How to play with your dog appropriately • Leave It and drop It: Teach your dog to leave or release items they shouldn't have in their mouths • Crate Training: Familiarize your dog with a crate is a good idea so that your dog doesn’t freak if extended vet visits are required, being transported by a dog walkers or overnight stays at boarding kennels. This course is spread out over 5 weeks and the package includes: • Treats • Toys for you to keep • Foundation skills certificate • Professional quality photos/video clips to watch back after There is no age limitation however your dog is required to be fully vaccinated to take part in activities out in public, Though I highly recommend safe public socialization for puppies 2 - 4 months during their vaccination period. Contact me for more information. Like anything consistency and patience are key when training your dog. Each dog is unique, so progress may vary. The most important thing is to build a strong and loving relationship based on positive experiences.
